The Italian dessert tiramisu is composed of mascarpone cream layers, coffee-soaked lady fingers, and cocoa powder on top. Many times, brandy or marsala wine are used to spike coffee. Due to its subtler flavor and AMAZING compliment to the cake, I decided to go with amaretto, an Italian liqueur flavored with almonds.
Though the cake calls for a ton of eggs, I reduced the cream’s ingredients to just mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla because that’s how it’s traditionally made.
